Former National Security Adviser Alleges Incoherence in Foreign Policy as Investigation into His Memoir Resumes.
Former National Security Adviser John Bolton has publicly criticized President Donald Trump in the wake of a recent FBI raid on his home and office. The raid, which reportedly came as a surprise to many, is part of a resumed Department of Justice investigation into whether Bolton’s 2020 memoir contained classified national security information.
Bolton, who served in the Trump administration for 17 months, took to the pages of the Washington Examiner to voice his discontent. In a sharp op-ed, he connected the raid to the President’s handling of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

“Donald Trump’s Ukraine policy today is no more coherent than it was last Friday when his administration executed search warrants against my home and office,” Bolton wrote, suggesting a connection between the two events.
He also took aim at what he called the “furious pace” of the administration’s recent push for a peace deal, characterizing it as a significant error.
The criticism follows a period of public tension between Bolton and President Trump. The president has previously called for Bolton to be jailed over his book and revoked his Secret Service protection.

In response to the raid, President Trump stated that he had no prior knowledge of it, adding that it was “better” for the DOJ to handle such matters independently.
The Department of Justice had previously ended its probe into Bolton’s book.
However, the investigation has since been reopened. The raid and Bolton’s subsequent public comments mark the latest development in the ongoing legal and political dispute.
