POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 35-year-old Wahneta man was taken into custody Saturday, August 8, 2026, after running from law enforcement officers near Thompson Nursery Road and Eloise Loop Road.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies spotted Ernest Lee Lamb in the area on Saturday. According to the sheriff’s office, Lamb fled into nearby woods upon seeing the deputies. Authorities stated that Lamb had also fled from deputies the previous evening.
Multiple PCSO deputies responded to set up a perimeter around the wooded area. Officer Nason and K9 Arlo from the Auburndale Police Department joined the search and located Lamb inside the woods, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
Lamb was transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center.
He was arrested on outstanding warrants for two counts of felony battery with a prior conviction, felony petit theft, and second-degree misdemeanor simple assault. Authorities additionally charged Lamb with first-degree misdemeanor resisting an officer without violence.
