K9s Corner Murder Suspect After Brutal Florida Slaying

Lee County deputies have a man in custody following a violent domestic dispute that turned deadly in North Fort Myers on Thursday afternoon. Alain Wilfredo Samon Cuadra, 44, now faces a second-degree murder charge after authorities tracked him into a wooded area shortly after the incident.

The chaos began around 4:49 PM when deputies were called to a home in the 16000 block of Shelby Lane. When they arrived, they found an adult woman unresponsive, suffering from what investigators described as several puncture wounds and deep cuts.

Paramedics tried to save her life at the scene, but her injuries were too severe, and she was pronounced dead right there.

Witnesses told police they saw Samon Cuadra with the woman both before and during the attack. The two lived together, according to preliminary reports from the Major Crimes Unit. After the stabbing, the suspect reportedly took off in a white work van, sparking a brief search.

It didn’t take long for K9 units to sniff him out; he was found hiding in nearby woods and surrendered to deputies without any further trouble.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno didn’t hold back when addressing the nature of the crime. “This is brutal, unacceptable violence—and it will not be tolerated in Lee County,” Marceno said. “A life was taken in a horrific way, and my deputies acted quickly to identify and apprehend the suspect. Let me be clear: if you commit this kind of violence, we will find you, we will arrest you, and you will be held fully accountable under the law.”

Samon Cuadra is currently being held at the Lee County Jail. While an arrest has been made, the investigation is still wide open as the Major Crimes Unit works with the State Attorney’s Office to finalize the case.
