Kentucky Man Arrested For Double Attempted Murder After Early Morning Bat Attack

A quiet morning in Ferguson, Kentucky, took a violent turn when a local man allegedly attacked two people with a baseball bat, leaving both victims with serious injuries.

Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones confirmed that 44-year-old Jonathan Gross is now behind bars facing multiple felony charges, including two counts of attempted murder.

The incident began just before 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Deputies Dylan West and Zach Huff arrived at a home on Waddle Street after a frantic 911 call reporting a physical assault in progress.

According to investigators, the caller told dispatchers that Gross had struck both him and his girlfriend with a bat. The male victim managed to break away during the struggle to dial emergency services.

When deputies pulled up to the residence, they discovered a woman sitting outside, bleeding heavily from her head. She told officers that Gross had hit her and was still hiding out in one of the bedrooms.

Police say Gross initially refused to come out. After several failed attempts to get him to surrender, deputies moved into the house and entered the bedroom, where they were able to take him into custody without further violence.

Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Gross was booked into the local detention center and is charged with two counts of attempted murder, second-degree disorderly conduct, two counts of third-degree terroristic threatening, and public alcohol intoxication.
