A deep fracture within the Republican party has burst into the open as Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky voiced his disgust with President Donald Trump over the treatment of former Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The dispute centers on a series of alleged private interactions following the successful push to release the Department of Justice files regarding Jeffrey Epstein.
The tension began when Greene, a formerly stalwart Trump ally from Georgia, sided with Massie on a discharge petition to force the release of the Epstein documents.
Greene has since claimed that Trump opposed the move, allegedly telling her, “My friends will get hurt.”

Since then, the political fallout has turned personal. Greene, who resigned from her Georgia seat in January, revealed that she and her children received death threats for bucking the administration’s preferences.
Appearing on The Tucker Carlson Show this Wednesday, Massie detailed a conversation in which Greene reportedly informed the President of the threats against her family. According to Greene, the President offered no sympathy, instead telling the former congresswoman the threats were her own fault.
“He basically blamed me,” Greene said in February regarding the safety of her children. “He had no compassion for death threats… He blamed me…basically that if my son were to get killed, it would be my fault.”
During the interview, Massie praised the Georgia Republican for her willingness to sacrifice her career for the sake of transparency.
When Carlson recounted the President’s alleged response to Greene—telling her the threats were “your fault”—Massie replied, “Yeah, despicable.”
The fallout has now reached the ballot box. President Trump has officially endorsed Ed Gallrein, who is challenging Massie in the Kentucky Republican primary.
This public split highlights an escalating battle between the Trump administration and a group of original “America First” lawmakers who have prioritized the Epstein file disclosures over party unity.
