A Kentucky woman quickly found out that animal abuse in Florida is not tolerated, and one sheriff takes pleasure in making examples out of the abusers.

According to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Jessica Greer, Kentucky, left three pets, including two dogs, and a cat, inside her van for hours.

The sheriff says that the windows were barely cracked when deputies arrived on the scene and that all three animals were in apparent distress.

“This case happened because a great citizen out the state of Florida out of Brevard County told us about it,” said Ivey. “One of the dogs is 16 years old and was pretty near death when our deputies broke the window out and rescued the dogs.”

Ivey says that Greer was at the beach and took nearly two hours to return to the vehicle. That’s when deputies identified her and took Greer into custody.

“This lady shouldn’t be allowed to own a pet rock, much less two dogs, and a cat,” said Ivey.

In a video posted on social media, Ivey explains the entire ordeal and escorts Greer into the jail booking area.
