House Speaker Kevin McCarthy will launch an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden over his involvement in his son Hunter’s foreign business dealings.

During a press briefing Tuesday, McCarthy said, “House republicans have uncovered serious credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct. Taken together, these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption.”

“Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings. Witnesses have testified that the president joined on multiple phone calls and had multiple interactions. Dinners resulted in cars and millions of dollars into his sons and his son’s business partners. We know that bank records show that nearly 20 million dollars in payments were directed to the Biden Family members and associates,” said McCarthy.

“The treasury department alone has more than 150 transactions involving the Biden family and business associates that were flagged as suspicious activity by US banks. Even a trusted FBI informant, has alleged a bribe to the Biden family,” said McCarthy.

McCarthy said the House Oversight Committee’s investigation so far has found a “culture of corruption” around the Biden family.

“These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption and they warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives. That’s why today. I am directing our House Committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden,” said McCarthy.

McCarthy is expected to inform House Republicans in a private session on Thursday that the “logical next step” in the House GOP’s investigation into the Bidens is to bring an impeachment inquiry against the president, Punchbowl News first reported.

In the meeting, Republican House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan of Ohio and Republican House Oversight Chairman James Comer of Kentucky will brief the caucus on the latest revelations in their respective investigations.

The speaker plans to tell House Republicans that the two committees have uncovered enough evidence to warrant an impeachment inquiry into the president, which could allow the GOP to obtain more documents, including Biden’s bank records, according to Punchbowl News.

McCarthy’s plans come as Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has threatened that she would not vote for government spending bills until an impeachment inquiry is launched against the president. The speaker is also facing threats of an attempt to oust him by Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, who plans on airing his grievances against McCarthy in a floor speech on Tuesday.

Numerous text messages uncovered on Hunter Biden’s laptop reveal Joe Biden was aware of his son’s business dealings, with Hunter referencing his father’s involvement and Joe Biden meeting with several of Hunter Biden’s business partners while he was vice president.

James Gilliar, a business associate of Hunter Biden’s, questioned whether or not ten percent of Oneida Holdings, a joint venture with CEFC China Energy, would be held by Hunter “for the big guy.” Tony Bobulinski, another business partner, corroborated that “the big guy” referred to Joe Biden.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia on Monday attempted to get skittish Republicans to go along with a house probe of President Joe Biden’s potential crimes, reminding her colleagues that a vote for an impeachment inquiry was not actually voting to impeach.

Appearing on One America News Network’s “Real America,” the Georgia Republican said she hopes the House would move forward on the issue this week.

She also suggested that after watching a recent clip of Biden aired by host Dan Ball, Congress should consider invoking the 25th Amendment as well as an impeachment investigation.

The 25th Amendment, which many Democrats called for using on former President Donald Trump, allows Congress to take action to remove the president if he is unable to perform his duties.

As for impeachment, Greene told Ball, “But I really hope we do have the votes, Dan. We should have the votes.”

“An impeachment inquiry is so much different than actually voting for impeachment,” she added.

“It’s just simply asking the question: Can we take a peek? Can we look further? Can we open an investigation into Joe Biden?”

“And what I hope to see,” Greene added, “is a ‘yes’ from every single Republican in our conference because that is such an easy vote to cast — a simple yes vote for an impeachment inquiry.”

Greene reiterated her point on X (formerly Twitter), posting on Monday, the vote is “asking if we can look further into Joe Biden and every person who helped cover up the Biden family’s crimes for years. Every Republican should support an Impeachment Inquiry.”

Greene has filed multiple resolutions calling for Biden’s impeachment.

Led by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, GOP lawmakers have uncovered what they believe is significant evidence of Biden’s influence peddling and corrupt practices on behalf of his son, Hunter, while serving ass vice president.

But the vote may not be as simple as Greene wants it to be.

As the Tampa Free Press has reported, two Republicans — Reps. Ken Buck of Colorado and Nancy Mace of South Carolina — have questioned pursuing impeachment actions against Biden.
