Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly defended Disney’s decision to pull Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show, stating it was not about censorship but about the show’s “dishonest” and “outrageous” content.
On NewsNation’s “CUOMO,” former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly weighed in on the controversy surrounding Jimmy Kimmel‘s late-night show. Following a monologue about the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Disney’s ABC has indefinitely pulled “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from the air. O’Reilly stated that the decision was not about “censorship,” but about the show’s lack of “responsibility” and its “outrageous” content.
The move by ABC came after Nexstar Media Group, which owns and partners with several ABC-affiliated stations, preempted the show, calling Kimmel‘s comments “offensive and insensitive.” O’Reilly echoed this sentiment, arguing that Kimmel’s monologue on Monday was “inexplicable.” He expressed disbelief that Kimmel would “mislead the entire country by implying that MAGA—Trump supporters—were really behind the murder.”
During his monologue, Kimmel suggested that the MAGA group had sunk to “new lows,” claiming that Republicans were attempting to distance themselves from the alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson. Kimmel also mocked President Donald Trump‘s reaction to the assassination, comparing it to “how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”
However, officials revealed that bullet casings from the rifle used to kill Kirk contained phrases like “Hey fascist! Catch!” and “bella ciao,” an Italian song that became a left-wing anthem during World War II. Republican Utah Gov. Spencer Cox also stated that Robinson “was deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology.”
O’Reilly stressed that “every corporation has a responsibility to make sure the product it is selling is an honest product.” He concluded by calling Kimmel’s remarks “defamatory” and “outrageous.” FCC Chairman Brendan Carr also weighed in on the issue, threatening “additional work for the FCC” if ABC did not take action.
