POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Two sisters from Kissimmee are facing felony charges after they were arrested Tuesday evening for allegedly stealing nearly $2,500 worth of merchandise from the Target store in Posner Park.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4th, when a Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputy responded to the retail store regarding a reported theft.

Target security personnel had detained the two women, identified as 32-year-old Hala Kamel and 19-year-old Afnane Kamel, both residents of Kissimmee.

According to a report from store security, the pair allegedly left the premises with a significant quantity of items they had not paid for. The stolen merchandise was diverse, including bedding, various decorations, clothing, and makeup, with a combined retail value totaling $2,487.70.

“When you walk into a store and try to leave with nearly $2,500 worth of unpaid merchandise, that’s not a mistake—that’s a crime,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. “Thanks to a vigilant associate who saw something and said something, our deputies were able to respond quickly and make the arrest.”

Following the investigation at the scene, both Hala and Afnane Kamel were taken into custody. They were transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center, where they were each formally charged with Grand Theft and Conspiracy to Commit Grand Theft.
