HAINES CITY, Fla. – A 24-year-old woman from Kissimmee tragically lost her life in a head-on collision on Hatchineha Road in Haines City Saturday evening.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash, which occurred just east of Jennings Road North, around 7:22 PM on December 21st. The collision involved a green Nissan Sentra and a white Nissan pickup truck.

According to preliminary investigations, the woman driving the Sentra was attempting to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone when she collided head-on with the oncoming pickup truck. The impact left the woman trapped in her vehicle with critical injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, a 30-year-old man from Lakeland, also sustained serious injuries.

Emergency responders rushed both drivers to the hospital, but sadly, the woman succumbed to her injuries the following day, December 22nd. The male driver is expected to recover.

Hatchineha Road was closed for approximately three hours while Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide detectives and Forensic investigators processed the scene.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
