CLEARWATER, Fla. – A Saturday night confrontation at a Clearwater apartment complex ended in a shooting that has left one man facing multiple felony charges. Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue were called to the Royal Breeze Apartments at 21227 U.S. 19 N. around 7:30 p.m. following reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, emergency responders located 36-year-old Josten Pack, of Clearwater, suffering from a gunshot wound. Pack was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg as a trauma alert, though officials noted his injuries were not life-threatening.
Detectives investigating the scene determined that the incident began when Pack allegedly approached a man and a woman outside the apartments and threatened them with a knife. According to investigators, the man involved told police he feared for his own life and the life of his girlfriend, prompting him to pull a firearm and shoot Pack.

After receiving medical treatment, Pack was released from the hospital and immediately taken into custody. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault related to the Saturday night incident.
The investigation also linked Pack to a separate physical altercation that occurred the day before. Police say that on Friday, Pack was involved in a dispute at a nearby business where he allegedly threw a water bottle at a 70-year-old woman. The bottle struck her in the face, leading to an additional charge of battery on a person 65 or older.
Authorities stated early in the investigation that the shooting appeared to be an isolated event and that there was no ongoing threat to the public. Pack remains in jail as the legal process moves forward.
