“Kool-Aid Man” Spring Hill Teen Arrested After Busting Into Vape Shop, Tracked Down To His Bedroom By K-9

SPRING HILL, FL. – A 14-year-old Spring Hill bot has been arrested after a late-night break-in of a Vape shop, led a K-9 directly to the boy’s bedroom window.

On Monday just after 2:30 a.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a Commercial Alarm activation at the Smoke Shop located at 5443 Spring Hill Drive in Spring Hill.

Upon arrival, deputies saw the glass entry door to the business was smashed. Deputies positioned on the perimeter of the business and awaited K-9.

Deputy Greg Locke and K-9 Argo arrived on the scene.  According to Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, K-9 Argo promptly began a track from the point of entry. The track led directly to a bedroom window at a house nearby, on Greenview Avenue.

Deputies completed a check of the business to ensure no other suspects were present, then responded to the address on Greenview Avenue to investigate.

Upon arrival at the residence, deputies met with the homeowner, who permitted them to enter and proceed to the bedroom in question to make contact with the juveniles who shared a bedroom.

According to deputies, the investigation revealed, Hunter Johnson, one of the juveniles who shares the bedroom, committed the burglary.

Detective R. Desmond’s investigation revealed, Johnson left via the bedroom window and traveled to the Smoke Shop alone.  Once there, Johnson used a brick to smash the glass door.

After smashing the door, Johnson did a maneuver he referred to as the “Kool-Aid Man” to run through the broken glass door.  While inside, Johnson grabbed various vaping devices and placed them in the pillowcase he took with him.  Johnson also used the pillowcase to wipe away the blood from the various (minor) injuries he sustained during the “Kool-Aid Man” maneuver.

When finished at the Smoke Shop, deputies say that Johnson went back to his home, entering through the bedroom window.

Numerous items were located on the scene, including the pillowcase, vaping devices, a jacket, and a ski mask (worn to commit the burglary).  All items were collected by Forensics.

Hunter Rome Johnson, 14, was placed under arrest and delivered to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) in Ocala.  Johnson was charged with one count of Commercial Burglary (Felony).
