LAKELAND, Fla. – A 39-year-old Lakeland man, Robert Meador, was arrested Sunday evening following a brief standoff with Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Deputies responded to a residence on Rushing Road around 7:30 p.m. after receiving information that Meador, who had three outstanding warrants, was at the location.

These warrants included charges of fraudulent use of another person’s ID, petit theft with a previous conviction, and violation of probation for DUI. Meador had also reportedly made threats against others earlier that day in another jurisdiction.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered Meador’s refusal to exit the residence. As the K9 unit prepared to enter, Meador surrendered at the front door.
