LAKELAND, Fla. – A 20-year-old Lakeland man was arrested early Wednesday morning following a reported road rage incident in Auburndale, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Latravious Lanier faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, a third-degree felony.
The incident began around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Sheriff’s deputies responded to Taylor Road in Auburndale after a victim reported a road rage encounter. According to authorities, the victim was driving east on US 92 with his wife and young child when a gray 2010 Toyota Camry cut in front of his vehicle.
The victim honked his horn in response to the maneuver. When both vehicles came to a stop at a red light, the driver of the Camry allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and his wife before driving away from the scene.
Sheriff’s office detectives subsequently identified the driver as Lanier and obtained an arrest warrant.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, deputies went to a residence on Providence Road in Lakeland to execute the warrant. Lanier surrendered to deputies at the home without incident.
Lanier was transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center for booking. Records show Lanier has one prior arrest for battery.
