LAKELAND, Fla. – A Lakeland man is facing multiple felony charges following a two-week span of events that local authorities say began with a damaged luxury car and ended with a roadside arrest on Friday afternoon.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office took 38-year-old Joshua Glenn Herndon into custody around 3:47 p.m. on February 13, 2026.

While the arrest happened this past Friday, the investigation dates back to the early morning hours of February 1.

According to investigators, Herndon intentionally vandalized a friend’s Mercedes-Benz, resulting in an estimated $4,000 in repair costs. That initial incident led a detective to file a felony criminal mischief complaint against him.

The situation escalated on February 10, when authorities allege Herndon began repeatedly calling the car owner. Reports indicate Herndon threatened the victim, demanding that they tell detectives he was not involved in the original vandalism. These calls resulted in a second felony charge: tampering with a victim in a felony proceeding.

The chain of events concluded when a sheriff’s sergeant spotted Herndon driving on Ewell Road in Lakeland. The sergeant conducted a traffic stop and identified Herndon, who was then booked on the two outstanding felony warrants.

During the stop, deputies discovered that Herndon’s driver’s license had been suspended since February 2022.

As a result, he faces an additional charge of driving while his license is suspended or revoked. Herndon was transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center without further incident.
