24-year-old motorcyclist succumbed to injuries after being struck by an SUV making a left turn.
LAKELAND, Fla. – A 24-year-old Lakeland man was killed this morning after a collision between his motorcycle and an SUV on South Florida Avenue, according to a report released by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The incident occurred at approximately 8:46 AM in Lakeland, just north of Shepherd Road.
According to the FHP report, a Nissan Rogue, driven by a 71-year-old woman from Seffner, was traveling southbound on South Florida Avenue. At the same time, a Yamaha motorcycle, operated by the Lakeland man, was traveling northbound.

The crash took place when the driver of the Nissan Rogue attempted a left turn directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. The Yamaha struck the SUV, resulting in serious injuries to the motorcyclist.
The 24-year-old man was transported from the scene to an area hospital, where he later died from the injuries sustained in the crash.
The status of the SUV driver was not immediately available, and the FHP report did not indicate whether any charges would be filed pending the ongoing investigation.
