“Land of the Greedy Mouse” To Be Staged At Mulberry’s GEM Theatre

MULBERRY, FL. – On June 11-13, the newly renovated GEM Theatre in Mulberry will present “Land of the Greedy Mouse,” a Just Write Lakeland production.

This original work by Vincent L. Scarsella, tells the comic tale of a wise-guy mobster, Ronnie “the Rat” Rinuccio who, after entering the federal witness protection program, ends up working for the most famous mouse of all.

Once a cast member, Ronnie hooks up with fellow wise-guy, Jersey Jim Campoleone and Jersey girl, Gloria Rinella, to plan a heist of millions in cash at the place where dreams come true with hilarious and unexpected results.

After six performances in April at Lakeland’s Stage Room, the play is being reprised by director, Jon Fedkiw, who has been working in and around film and theater for nearly twenty years.

Established by Fedkiw as a not-for-profit charitable subsidiary of Just Cares Lakeland, Inc., Just Write Lakeland has become a haven for writers needing a place to hone their playwriting and scriptwriting skills.

The actors who will be performing “Land of the Greedy Mouse” present a diverse group of local talent.  Eric Daniel, who plays the lead role as Ronnie “the Rat” Rinuccio, is a native of Lakeland.  After twenty years in law enforcement, Eric has appeared on network TV shows, a national commercial, and had roles in several short films.

Jersey Jim Campoleone is played by Mark Kenneally, an accomplished playwright who has enjoyed performing in various roles on stage.  Longtime Lakeland resident, Laurianne Ciccarelli, plays Gloria Rinella.  When not practicing law, she is an accomplished ballroom dancer who has been acting since June 2018.

Tammy Hanson handles three roles in the play – a defense attorney, Ms. Grimhilde and Wendy Darling.  She is currently involved in several film projects and is instrumental in the success of Just Write Lakeland.

Playing Max Kellner is Lakeland native, Brad Barfield, a Navy veteran, and retired law enforcement officer who is thrilled to now have an opportunity to perform on stage.  The prosecutor in the play, Wade Altman, has acted in a variety of plays since high school.  He runs a successful IT company for small and medium businesses when not on stage.

“Land of the Greedy Mouse” is the third Scarsella play to be directed by Fedkiw and produced by Just Write Lakeland.  Scarsella has also had several plays performed by colleges and community theatres.  In addition to playwriting, he has ten novels to his credit including the four books of the Lawyers Gone Bad Series that are loosely based on his eighteen years as head of the lawyer discipline office in Buffalo, New York.

“Land of the Greedy Mouse” will be staged at the beautiful GEM Theatre at 118 NW 1st Avenue in Mulberry at 7:30 PM, Friday, June 11, 7:30 PM, Saturday, June 12, and 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 13.  Single tickets are only $10 and are available at the Just Write Lakeland website: https://www.justwritelakeland.com/tickets or through the GEM theatre’s website at: https://gemtheatermulberry.org
