HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers traveling on State Road 50 (Cortez Boulevard) in Hernando County should prepare for significant lane closures and traffic disruptions starting this Sunday, October 12, through Friday, October 17, 2025, as part of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7’s maintenance and improvement work.

The closures are summarized in the latest FDOT District 7 Lane Closure Summary for October 12 – 18, impacting two key sections of SR 50.

SR 50 Cortez Boulevard: Jasmine Drive to Mondon Hill Road

Motorists should anticipate daily lane closures on SR 50 (Cortez Blvd) from south of Jasmine Drive to Mondon Hill Road.

These daytime closures are scheduled to run from Monday, October 13 through Thursday, October 16, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Drivers are advised to expect delays and consider alternate routes during these peak hours.

SR 50 (Cortez Blvd): Ridge Manor Boulevard to Riverland Clay Sink Road

The second area of impact is on SR 50 (Cortez Blvd) from Ridge Manor Boulevard to Riverland Clay Sink Road, which will see both night and day-time disruptions involving periodic flagging and brief traffic stops.

  • Night Work: Periodic flagging and brief traffic stops will occur nightly from Sunday, October 12 through Thursday, October 16, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Day Work: Periodic flagging and brief traffic stops will also be in effect during the day from Monday, October 13 through Friday, October 17, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

FDOT urges drivers to use caution in the construction zones, adhere to posted speed limits, and be mindful of workers and equipment on the roadway. All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
