PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A 47-year-old Largo man was hospitalized Friday morning after his truck suffered a blown tire, veered off Interstate 75, overturned, and burst into flames, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 11:10 a.m. along northbound I-75 near mile marker 280, according to an incident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers reported that the man was driving a single-unit truck northbound when the vehicle experienced a sudden tire failure. The driver lost control, sending the truck off the pavement and onto the highway’s east shoulder.
The vehicle overturned upon leaving the roadway and caught fire along the shoulder.
Emergency responders transported the driver to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol did not immediately release the driver’s identity.
