CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Citrus County should prepare for overnight delays starting this Sunday as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 begins a series of lane closures on State Road 44.

The work is scheduled to take place on SR 44, also known as Main Street, stretching from Pleasant Grove Road to Montgomery Avenue.

According to the FDOT summary, the lane closures will begin on Sunday night, March 15, and continue through Thursday night, March 19. Crews will be active during the overnight hours, with restrictions in place from 9:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. each morning.

These scheduled maintenance windows are intended to minimize the impact on heavy daytime traffic, though motorists traveling through the area late at night should expect some congestion or redirected flow.

FDOT has not reported any permanent closures for this stretch, and all lanes are expected to be fully open during daylight hours.

Travelers are encouraged to allow for extra time or seek alternative routes such as SR 41 if they are commuting during the designated work hours.
