MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 23-year-old Stock Island man is behind bars today following a violent domestic dispute that turned physical when a teenager tried to step in. Juan Osorto Sanchez was taken into custody on May 6, 2026, and now faces charges of domestic battery by strangulation along with a separate count of domestic battery.
The incident unfolded late Monday night at a home on Maloney Avenue. When Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on the scene around 10:15 p.m., they found Osorto Sanchez appearing heavily intoxicated and acting belligerently toward officers.
According to investigators, the chaos began with a fight between Osorto Sanchez and an adult woman. When a male teenager in the home attempted to intervene in the struggle, the situation escalated.

Witnesses told deputies that Osorto Sanchez tackled the juvenile to the floor and began choking him. Those nearby managed to pull the man off the boy and separate the two before authorities arrived.
While the teenager did not suffer life-threatening injuries, responding officers noted visible abrasions and discoloration on his neck that matched the accounts given by witnesses at the scene.
Following the investigation at the residence, Osorto Sanchez was transported to the local jail.
