HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A routine traffic stop early Sunday morning led to two arrests and the seizure of trafficking-level amounts of methamphetamine, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies pulled over a vehicle around 12:19 a.m. on August 30 near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and North Forbes Road.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies discovered more than 200 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, individual bags used for distribution, two digital scales, a ledger, a glass bong, and $918 in cash.
A passenger in the car, 58-year-old Martha Gut, told deputies that the narcotics belonged to her.
Gut was arrested at the scene and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine over 200 grams, along with two counts of possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a convenience store, among other related drug offenses.
The driver, identified by authorities as 46-year-old Ronald Gauley, was also taken into custody. Gauley faces charges of driving with a canceled, suspended, or revoked license, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both individuals were booked into local custody following the roadside search. Sheriff’s office records did not list attorney information for either defendant at the time of the release.
