CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — A 57-year-old Lecanto woman died Wednesday morning after her motorcycle collided with a tanker truck on US-19, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 7:55 a.m. at the intersection of US-19 and West Venable Street.
Troopers say that the woman was riding a Suzuki motorcycle westbound on West Venable Street approaching the intersection. At the same time, a single-unit tanker truck driven by a 41-year-old Brandon man was heading northbound on US-19.
As the motorcycle reached the intersection, the rider turned right into the direct path of the oncoming tanker truck, causing the truck to strike the motorcycle.
Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to an area hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the tanker truck was not reported injured. FHP has not released the names of the individuals involved.
