Leesburg Man Killed, Miami Man Seriously Injured In Friday Night Crash In Tampa

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 42-year-old Leesburg man died, and a 54-year-old Miami man was seriously injured late Friday night after being struck by a vehicle while trying to cross State Road 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard).

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 10:50. A Chevy Equinox driven by a 72-year-old man from Largo was traveling westbound on SR-574, just west of North 68th Street, when the two men stepped into the highway.

Troopers reported that both pedestrians entered the path of the oncoming vehicle and were hit.

The 42-year-old man died from his injuries at the scene. Emergency crews transported the 54-year-old man to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved in the crash.
