The latest episode of the law enforcement talk show LEO Round Table, Season 10, Episode 198, features a discussion on the dramatic officer-involved shooting that occurred inside a South Los Angeles liquor store.
The segment, titled “Cops engage in fiery shootout with gunman inside liquor store on video!” (beginning at 29:35), covered an incident that took place on August 31, 2025. According to reports, LAPD officers conducting extra patrol at a liquor store on 9th Avenue and West Jefferson Boulevard encountered 33-year-old Malik Salaah, who appeared to be concealing a firearm.
When officers attempted to detain Salaah, he reportedly pulled out a gun and fired multiple rounds at them inside and as he fled the store. Surveillance and bodycam video of the chaotic exchange shows a significant amount of gunfire, with one clip noting the “unreal amount of gunshots.” The suspect was struck by gunfire, apprehended nearby, and transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Remarkably, no officers or other community members were injured during the incident. Salaah was absentee booked for the attempted murder of a peace officer. The LEO Round Table panelists analyzed the incident, which was followed by a separate segment on the justification of a fatal officer-involved shooting.
