Liberals Focused On “Diversity, Equity And Inclusion” Should Take Heart. The Firearms Industry Has Heard Their Pleas.

Liberals focused on “diversity, equity and inclusion” should take heart. The firearms industry has heard their pleas.

The Washington Examiner reported on Thursday that 5.4 million Americans – a population bigger than that of 27 states – became first-time gun owners in 2021.

And that group was notable because it broadened “the once male and white market, now with women, Blacks, Asians, and Hispanics,” the Examiner said.

The outlet cited a report by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a pro-Second Amendment think tank.

Its data showed that 33 percent of new gun owners in 2021 were women.

Sales to black customers were up 44 percent, while those to Hispanics increased by almost 40 percent.

Even less populated minority groups were in on the gun-buying binge.

Asian-American purchases climbed by 27 percent, those of Native Americans increased 18 percent and sales to people of Pacific Island descent rise 14 percent.

Meanwhile, as liberal prosecutors refuse to prosecute actual criminals and the Biden administration focuses its crime-fighting efforts on parents at school board meetings, people see a need for more self-defense tools.

The Examiner noted that the FBI said 2021 was the second-largest year for background checks for guns.

In response to the Examiner piece, the National Rifle Association tweeted, “The Second Amendment doesn’t discriminate.”

Joe Bartozzi, president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, pointed out that 43 percent of these new gun buyers actually signed up for professional training in how to use them.

“The surveys revealed that new gun owners are continuing to embrace their Second Amendment rights and nearly half of them are seeking out professional training,” said Bartozzi.

“These trends show that not only is there still a strong interest in gun ownership but also that these new gun owners are interested in learning more about the safe and responsible handling, use and storage of firearms.”
