A 43-year-old Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the brutal 2021 murder of his 39-year-old wife following what was described in court as a “24-hour beating.”

Christopher Alexander Mello received the mandatory sentence from Lancaster County Judge David L. Ashworth immediately after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree murder in the slaying of Alexandria Reynolds.

According to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, the attack began on September 29, 2021, and lasted until the following evening inside the couple’s Elizabethtown home.

During the legal proceedings, prosecutors detailed a horrific scene: Mello “repeatedly punched and kicked” Reynolds, causing over 100 bruises, numerous broken bones—including her nose, jaw, and neck—multiple damaged organs, and a severed artery in her brain.

The victim’s body was discovered by first responders inside a second-floor bathtub after Mello’s father called 911. Upon arrival, police found the bathroom walls smeared with blood and featuring “multiple holes roughly the size of a human head.”

Though Mello’s attorney claimed he was remorseful, Mello himself declined the chance to address the court.

Judge Ashworth, in handing down the sentence, emphasized the “horror” of Mello’s actions, noting that no sentence could undo the damage. Mello was also ordered to pay $4,500 in restitution to the victim’s family.
