The Lightning mounted a comeback victory after being down 2-0. The Predators opened the scoring with two goals in the second period, one at even strength by Brady Martin and another on the power play, also by Martin.

The Lightning’s rally began in the third period.

Sam O’Reilly, a recent acquisition from the Edmonton Oilers, scored at 9:28, with an assist from Oliver Bjorkstrand.

With just over two minutes remaining in regulation, Jakob Pelletier tied the game with a goal, assisted by Grant Spada and Steven Santini. Spada, born in 2007, is the youngest player on the Lightning’s training camp roster. The game was decided in a shootout, with Boris Katchouk scoring the decisive goal for the Lightning.

Despite the win, the Lightning were outshot by the Predators 29-24. The Lightning’s penalty kill was effective, successfully killing four of the Predators’ five power-play opportunities, while the Predators’ power play was 1-for-5. The Lightning’s power play was unable to convert on any of their five opportunities. Both teams had a relatively even faceoff percentage, with the Predators winning 53% of the draws.

  • Sam O’Reilly: The goal was O’Reilly’s first of the preseason. He recorded 28 goals and 71 points with the OHL’s London Knights last season.
  • Jakob Pelletier: Pelletier, who split time between the Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers last season, scored the game-tying goal.
  • Grant Spada: Spada earned a primary assist on the tying goal. At 18 years old, he is the youngest player at the Lightning’s training camp.
  • Steven Santini: Santini recorded his first point of the preseason with an assist on Pelletier’s goal.

Upcoming Schedule

The Lightning have five remaining preseason games before the regular season begins. Their next game is on September 26 against the Carolina Hurricanes at Benchmark International Arena. They will then play three games against the Florida Panthers (September 30, October 2, and October 4), with the first matchup at the Kia Center in Orlando.
