CLEARWATER, Fla. — Firefighters quickly contained an attic fire Thursday afternoon after lightning struck a two-story home on Temple Street.
Clearwater Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to 1419 Temple St. at 3:34 p.m. after a resident called 911 to report that her house had been hit by lightning.
The residents inside managed to safely evacuate the building before emergency personnel arrived on scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the lightning strike hit the roof, triggering a small fire in the attic. Responding crews contained the flames rapidly, preventing the fire from spreading to the rest of the structure.
No injuries were reported.
