Lightning Strikes Home On 23rd Ave N In St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – At approximately 9:30 pm St. Petersburg Fire Rescue responded to the 100 block of 23rd Ave N for reports of smoke coming from a house after being struck by lightning.

Crews arrived to a find small amount of smoke coming from the roof of a single-story wood-frame house.

Firefighters used portable extinguishers to extinguish the small amount of fire found in the attic.

“Firefighters are working carefully during the dangerous storm condition to avoid further incidents,” said St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue.

The situation is under control, firefighters are working to ensure the hot spots are not going to cause further fire issues.

The cause of the fire was a lightning strike to the home. No injuries were reported to residents or firefighters.
