Lithia Man Arrested For DUI After Late-Night Collision With Road Ranger In Pinellas County

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A Lithia man faces multiple charges after slamming his car into a stopped Road Ranger truck late Wednesday night on I-275, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred just before midnight in Pinellas County, north of 4th Street North. At approximately 11:40 p.m., a 32-year-old man behind the wheel of a Honda Accord was traveling northbound in the inside lane.

At the same time, a 52-year-old Plant City man operating a marked Road Ranger Ford F600 was stopped in traffic within the same lane.

The highway was under active construction at the time, leaving only the inside lane open to motorists. Investigators noted that the scene was heavily marked with upright traffic cones, advanced warning signs, and arrow boards designed to funnel traffic safely.

Troopers say several law enforcement vehicles were parked nearby with their emergency lights flashing to alert drivers to the closure.

Despite these warnings, the driver of the Honda failed to slow down or stop as he approached the congestion. The front of the Accord struck the rear of the Road Ranger truck with enough force to send the operator to a local hospital. Officials stated the Road Ranger’s injuries were minor.

Troopers identified the driver of the Honda as Cedrick Travon Brown. Following the investigation at the scene, Brown was arrested and booked on charges of DUI, refusal to submit to testing, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Authorities also discovered he had an active felony warrant at the time of the crash.
