Louisiana Felon Nabbed After Stolen Car Pursuit In Florida

A late-night drive through Sarasota, Florida, ended in handcuffs for a Louisiana man after police intercepted a stolen vehicle, leading to the discovery of multiple firearms and a stash of pills.

The incident unfolded on April 11 around 10:30 p.m. when Sarasota Police received an alert that a car reported stolen out of Louisiana had entered the St. Armands Circle area. Officers tracked the vehicle to the 100 block of John Ringling Blvd, where it turned onto a dead-end road.

The driver, 33-year-old Collin Aymond, reportedly jumped out of the car and attempted to flee on foot. Officers were able to catch him quickly and take him into custody. According to police reports, Aymond made spontaneous statements admitting he had taken the vehicle from a family member.

While Aymond ran, his passenger, 31-year-old Elliot Clark of Virginia, remained in the car. Clark told officers he was unaware the vehicle was stolen, claiming Aymond had picked him up in North Florida to give him a ride to Tampa and back.

A search of the car turned up two handguns—a silver Raven Arms P25 and a black Lorcin L25, both .25-caliber—along with 35 grams of oxycodone pills.

Aymond, a convicted felon, now faces a laundry list of charges including motor vehicle theft, trafficking in oxycodone, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and resisting an officer. He is currently held at the Sarasota County Jail on a $38,000 bond.

Clark was charged with a misdemeanor for trespassing in a conveyance for remaining in the stolen vehicle. He was released on a $150 bond and is due back in court on May 7.
