Son Accused of Brutal Mother’s Day Murder, Body Found in Trash Can

A grim discovery on Saturday, June 22, 2025, in the 900 block of Park Circle has led to the arrest of a Krotz Springs man in connection with the homicide of his mother. Aaron Lloyd, 45, stands charged with First Degree Murder and a litany of other offenses after allegedly confessing to killing 65-year-old Lisa Lloyd.

Opelousas Police Department officers were dispatched to the residence after receiving a disturbing report that a male subject had admitted to killing his mother and placing her body in a trash can. Upon arrival, authorities located a human body inside a trash can under the home’s carport.

A joint investigation was immediately launched by the Opelousas Police Department and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigative Division. Their collaborative efforts quickly led them to Aaron Lloyd, who was located and taken into custody without incident at a residence in Krotz Springs.

During questioning at the Opelousas Police Department, Mr. Lloyd reportedly confessed to killing his mother, Lisa Lloyd. He further admitted to injecting her with methamphetamine prior to fatally beating her.

Following the interview, Aaron Lloyd was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on charges of First Degree Murder, Aggravated Second Degree Battery, Obstruction of Justice, Failure to Seek Assistance, and Distribution of Schedule II Drugs.

Opelousas Police Chief Graig LeBlanc addressed the tragedy, stating, “This is a deeply tragic and heartbreaking case that has impacted our entire community. We ask that everyone keep the Lloyd family lifted in prayer during this incredibly difficult time. Our department is committed to pursuing justice with integrity, and we thank the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office for their swift and professional assistance.”

The investigation into this devastating incident remains ongoing.
