Louisiana Republican Senator John Kennedy, currently on a media tour to promote his new book, “How to Test Negative for Stupid: And Why Washington Never Will,” shut down any speculation of an appearance on ABC’s daytime talk show, “The View,” in no uncertain terms.
During an interview on “The Benny Show” on Monday, host Benny Johnson asked Senator Kennedy if he had plans to be a guest on the highly-rated, yet often politically-contentious, program.
“I will not be going on ‘The View.’ In fact, my version of hell is being required to watch reruns of ‘The View’ for the rest of eternity,” Kennedy stated definitively.
Despite Johnson joking about starting a petition to get the Senator on the show, suggesting it would draw “record-breaking ratings,” Kennedy remained steadfast in his refusal. “Well, I don’t know, but I have no interest in going on,” the senator replied. “I’d rather be poked in the eye with a sharp stick.”

Kennedy’s harsh critique comes amid a political climate where an appearance on the show can draw significant scrutiny from the Republican base. Johnson referenced the recent appearance by Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on November 4th, suggesting it was “the breaking point” in her relationship with President Donald Trump.
Trump announced the withdrawal of his endorsement for Greene in a Truth Social post, directly mentioning her participation on the show. “She has gone Far Left, even doing ‘The View,’ with their Low IQ Republican hating Anchors,” the former President wrote, adding that he would give his “Complete and Unyielding Support” to any Conservative seeking to primary her.
The Media Research Center previously found that “The View” had not hosted any conservative, pro-Trump guests as of July 30, 2025. The show has faced criticism over its alleged political bias, with Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr even suggesting on “The Scott Jennings Radio Show” that the program could face regulatory scrutiny over its balance.
Senator Kennedy, known for his witty and often pointed commentary, made it clear that a sit-down with the co-hosts of “The View” is not on his promotional itinerary, choosing instead to focus on outlets where he feels his message is better received.
