Louisiana Senator John Kennedy has gone on the record about his attempt to get President Donald Trump to dial back his notoriously prolific social media presence, revealing he told the nation’s “rage-poster-in-chief” that tweeting less “would not cause brain damage.”
The Republican lawmaker recounted the exchange on the Pod Force One podcast on Wednesday, admitting his attempt to curb the President’s posts—often late at night—has had “zero” impact.
“I Like Steak, But…”
When the President asked how he liked his tweets, Kennedy recalled his colorful attempt at an intervention: “Mr. President, don’t take this the wrong way, but tweeting a little less would not cause brain damage.”
He continued, comparing the volume of the President’s output to a favorite meal. “I like steak, but I don’t like eight steaks at one time. And you can’t just say everything that comes into your head.”

The Senator observed that Trump appeared “cool” about the suggestion, but quickly deduced his attempts were in vain, adding that the President “just says anything. He says everything.”
Despite his reservations about the pace of the rage-posting, Kennedy noted that he believes the majority of the American public is nonetheless in support of the President.
“The American people get it,” Kennedy said on the podcast, suggesting voters’ choice between the parties is clear. “People look at their choice, Democrat, Republican. They say, ‘Well, Republicans aren’t perfect, but the other side’s crazy,’ and that’s why they elected President Trump. They know all about President Trump.”
