MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 50-year-old Marathon man was taken into custody on Saturday following an incident earlier this week where he allegedly chased another man with a machete.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Pablo Arturo Rivero faces a charge of aggravated battery.
Deputies were originally called to the parking lot of the Brass Monkey bar at roughly 4:06 a.m. on July 12, 2026, to investigate reports of a battery. An adult male victim told responding officers that he had been involved in an argument with a suspect who then chased him with a machete.
No life-threatening injuries were reported from the encounter.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Rivero as the suspect. Investigators subsequently obtained a warrant for his arrest, and he was booked into the Monroe County Jail on Saturday.
