DADE CITY, Fla. — A routine vehicle repair ended in tragedy Wednesday morning after a Dade City man was run over by his own truck.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. at a residence on Hartley Street. Troopers say the 56-year-old victim was performing maintenance on a Toyota Tundra when the unoccupied vehicle suddenly began to reverse.
Investigators report the man was unable to get out of the way and was overrun by the truck, which continued rolling until it collided with the home.

Emergency responders transported the man to a local hospital with serious injuries. He later succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the mechanics of the accident. The name of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
