POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Maitland man faces multiple felony charges after a dispute over hotel guest information escalated into a physical altercation with Polk County sheriff’s deputies.
The incident unfolded on July 8, 2026, when a deputy arrived at the Woodspring Suites hotel. Hotel staff had called authorities to remove a guest, identified as 54-year-old Martin Anthony Link, who was reportedly causing a disturbance in the lobby.
According to deputies, Link had demanded the personal information of another hotel guest. When the desk clerk refused to hand over the details, Link began yelling at the employee.
Deputies located Link at his hotel room to address the situation. Upon making contact, Link tried to slam the door on the responding deputies. Law enforcement officers managed to keep the door open and proceeded to escort Link out of the room to take him into custody.
The situation turned physical when Link slapped a deputy. He continued to fight back against the officers until they successfully placed him in handcuffs. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were sustained by the deputies or the suspect during the struggle.
Following the altercation, Link was trespassed from the Woodspring Suites property. Deputies transported him to the Sheriff’s Processing Center without further incident.
Link now faces a slate of charges, including third-degree felony counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence. He is also charged with resisting without violence and failure to leave a lodging establishment upon request, both misdemeanors.
