CLEARWATER, Fla. – A serious multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of Court Street and Missouri Avenue has turned fatal. Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the scene at 5:18 p.m. Saturday, where three people required immediate medical transport.

Of the two victims taken to Morton Plant Hospital, authorities have confirmed that one person has died from their injuries. The second individual remains under medical care, while a third person involved was treated at Largo Medical Center for separate injuries.

The intersection, which was closed for several hours to allow the Clearwater Police Department to conduct a thorough investigation, has since been fully cleared.

All lanes of traffic are now open. No further information regarding the cause of the crash or the identity of the deceased has been provided by investigators.


ORIGINAL REPORT: Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue units were dispatched to the intersection of Court Street and Missouri Avenue at 5:18 p.m. today following reports of a vehicle crash with serious injuries.

Emergency personnel treated three individuals at the scene before transporting them to area hospitals. Two patients were taken to Morton Plant Hospital; officials confirmed that one of those individuals is suffering from life-threatening injuries.

A third person was transported to Largo Medical Center for treatment.

The intersection remains closed as investigators work to determine the cause of the collision. Local authorities are directing traffic away from the area and advise all motorists to seek alternate routes for the remainder of the evening.
