Drivers navigating the Nature Coast should prepare for some extra brake lights starting Monday. The Florida Department of Transportation has announced a series of scheduled lane and shoulder closures across Hernando and Citrus counties for the week of April 19 through April 25, 2026, as crews move in for roadwork.
In Hernando County, the biggest impact will be felt on US 98. The work zone stretches from north of Citrus Way (CR 491) up to the area north of Landfill Road.
Starting Monday, April 20, and running through Friday, April 24, motorists can expect flagging operations and active lane closures. These restrictions will be in place daily during the heart of the commute, spanning from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Citrus County commuters heading north on US 19 will also face some shifts. Work is scheduled between S. Jump Court and W. Venable Street.
While the main lanes are expected to remain open, the northbound right shoulder will be closed daily from Monday, April 20, through Friday, April 24. These closures are slated for 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
FDOT District 7 urges all residents and travelers to stay alert, slow down in work zones, and expect minor delays throughout the week.
