The push for the Governor’s Mansion gained further momentum today as Sumter County Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Breeden officially endorsed Byron Donalds for Florida Governor. The move marks a significant milestone for the campaign, as Breeden joins the majority of Florida’s sheriffs in backing the candidate.
Breeden pointed to Donalds’ commitment to the law enforcement community as the primary reason for his support.
“Byron Donalds understands being a law-and-order state means giving our officers the resources, training, and backing they need to do their jobs safely and effectively,” Breeden said. “It means enforcing our laws, holding criminals accountable, and making it clear that there are consequences for those who threaten our communities.”
The Sheriff expressed confidence that Donalds’ leadership would prioritize the safety of Florida residents and the stability of the state’s economy.

“I’m proud to support Byron because he will lead with accountability, stand firmly behind the men and women who put on the badge every day, and ensure Florida remains a place where families feel safe, businesses can thrive, and our communities continue to grow strong,” Breeden added.
Donalds continues to consolidate support across the political spectrum, holding endorsements from President Trump and Elon Musk. His campaign is also supported by 17 members of Florida’s Congressional delegation, U.S. House Leadership, and 75% of the Republican caucus in the Florida House.
The political support coincides with a strong financial showing. Donalds raised a record $22 million in the first quarter of 2026, a figure that has helped him maintain a dominant position against both Republican and Democratic opponents in the race for Florida Governor.
