Man Airlifted With Life-Threatening Injuries Following Shooting In Tarpon Springs

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. — A man was flown to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries Sunday following a shooting on East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, according to local police.

Officers with the Tarpon Springs Police Department arrived at the 200 block of E. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on August 2, 2026, where they located the victim, identified as Byronell Arline. Emergency personnel from Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue arrived minutes later to evaluate and treat Arline before he was transported by helicopter for trauma care.

Police said the other person involved in the shooting stayed on scene and is currently cooperating with investigators. No charges have been filed as detectives continue to work alongside the State’s Attorney’s Office.

Investigators emphasized that the incident was isolated and involved two people who knew each other, adding that there is no active threat to the public.

The 200 block of the roadway was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic during the initial investigation, but officers have since reopened the area.
