A man wanted in two states, and a woman wanted in one were both arrested in Florida and await extradition out of the sunshine state.

According to investigators, on Thursday, Dixie County Sheriff’s Deputies received information that John Norman Pitts Jr was at Suwannee Belle Landing, and it was believed he had an active warrant.

Pitts was run for warrants, deputies say, and it was confirmed that he did have active warrants for a Parole Violation out of Arkansas and Failure to Appear out of Oklahoma.

Deputies went to Suwannee Belle to make contact with Pitts. Shortly after, a black vehicle driven by Pitts pulled in front of the restaurant.

Deputies approached Pitts and placed him in hand restraints. Pitts asked the deputies If he could give his phone to the passenger in the vehicle.

While Sgt. Ericson spoke to the passenger, he asked her for her I.D. She provided her Florida Identification Card with the name Lauren Helmsderfer.

Sgt. Ericson ran Helmsderfer’s information through dispatch and was advised that Helmsderfer held an active warrant out of Arkansas for a Parole Violation.

Pitts and Helmsderfer were arrested and transported to the Dixie County Jail on the following charges:

John Norman Pitts Jr- (Arkansas) Felony absconder warrant; Robbery; Manufacture/deliver/possess a controlled substance; Aggravated assault (2 counts); Possession of a firearm, certain person; Terroristic threatening; Theft of property; Possession of drug paraphernalia meth/cocaine; Possession drug paraphernalia man-controlled substance (2 counts); Forgery (2 counts); Theft by receiving (2 counts).

(Oklahoma) Failure to appear- Malicious injury to property- over $1,000 (Felony)

Lauren Janelle Helmsderfer- (Arkansas) Parole Violation- Possession of a controlled substance, meth/cocaine; Theft of property.

They are both being held without bond awaiting extradition.
