Massachusetts Sen. Warren Pushes For Trump Crypto Disclosures, Cites Conflicts In Industry Bill

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is demanding that President Donald Trump hand over an additional six months of financial disclosures detailing his cryptocurrency holdings, according to a report by Rob Wile of NBCNews.com.

The request follows a June filing showing that the president and his family pulled in roughly $1.4 billion from digital currencies in 2025. Warren argued that the updated information, covering the first half of 2026, is essential because the Senate is currently debating a major crypto regulation bill that could directly boost the president’s personal wealth.

Under current federal disclosure rules, the president is not required to report his 2026 assets until next summer.

“Your financial disclosure raises key questions about the appropriateness of Presidents, Vice Presidents, senior administration officials, members of Congress, and their families profiting off the crypto industry, just as the U.S. Senate debates crypto market structure legislation that has the potential to increase the value of your crypto holdings,” Warren wrote in a letter sent Thursday.

The legislative battle centers on the CLARITY Act, a bill designed to set clear regulatory guidelines for the U.S. crypto market. Analysts say passing the bill could pull digital tokens out of a nine-month slump, an outcome that would likely increase the value of Trump’s portfolio. Senate Democrats have slowed the bill’s progress to fight for strict language preventing elected officials and their immediate associates from profiting from the assets.

“It is essential that Congress have access to the most accurate information possible while debating this legislation and considering ethics safeguards to prevent federal officials from inappropriately profiting from the very industries they are responsible for regulating,” Warren stated.

According to Trump’s 2025 financial disclosure, cryptocurrency has overtaken real estate as his primary source of income. His top earner was a licensing deal that brought in more than $635 million from the sales of a personalized meme coin, though its value has since dropped. He also reported holding $290 million in digital wallets, while the Trump Organization maintains a 38.25% stake in World Liberty Financial, a crypto venture overseeing two tokens that stand to benefit if the CLARITY Act passes.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment, though officials have consistently pushed back against conflict-of-interest allegations. On Wednesday, acting Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Russell Vought denied a separate assertion by Warren that dropped corporate investigations were linked to donations made to White House initiatives.

Trump defended his family’s ongoing business operations in a recent CNBC interview, noting the intense scrutiny his children face while running the family firms.

“Because the presidency is so powerful, so big, if they buy a cupcake company, the energy to make the cupcakes” becomes a question, Trump said. “Almost anything they do, if they want to buy a truck, an energy efficient truck, ‘They have inside information.'”

“We were doing business long before we ran for president,” Trump added.
