A late-night anonymous call led police in Massachusetts to a Webster apartment last week, resulting in the arrest of a 30-year-old woman who allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a hammer just days after stabbing him.
Officers arrived at the scene around 1:22 a.m. after receiving a report about a domestic assault in progress. According to authorities, police could hear a disturbance echoing from inside the apartment before they knocked and made contact with the couple inside.
The suspect, Rachel Moore-McNeil, initially claimed that nothing was wrong, telling officers that “there was no fighting happening.”
But when police spoke to her boyfriend, he told them a very different story. He stated that a fight had indeed broken out and that Moore-McNeil had struck him multiple times in both the head and back with a hammer. Officers observed several cuts and injuries on the man that were consistent with a hammer attack.
As police investigated further, they discovered that the violence had actually started a week earlier. Moore-McNeil allegedly stabbed her boyfriend during that previous dispute, causing severe lacerations.
Taking Moore-McNeil into custody required physical force. Police said that when officers attempted to handcuff her, she began to resist, forcing them to take her to the ground to safely secure her. Following the brief struggle, paramedics treated the victim’s injuries at the scene.
Moore-McNeil now faces multiple charges, including assault and battery on a family or household member, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault to maim, and resisting arrest. She was arraigned at Dudley District Court on Friday, June 12.
