A 62-year-old family physician from Capac, Michigan, will spend the next 15 years in federal prison after being sentenced yesterday for the distribution of thousands of images involving the exploitation of children.
Robert Glapinski received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Linda V. Parker in a Detroit federal court, following a guilty plea that detailed a massive collection of illicit material and disturbing online communications.
The investigation began on March 5, 2025, when Google flagged a “cybertip” to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The tech company reported that a user was sharing illegal material via Google Chat, with some images depicting the exploitation of prepubescent children. Investigators eventually traced the account to Glapinski, a doctor who treated both adults and children in his medical practice.
Court records reveal that Glapinski didn’t just possess the material; he used chat platforms to discuss the sexual abuse of female children and the sharing of illegal files.

On April 8, 2025, the U.S. Secret Service and the Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force raided Glapinski’s home. During the search, Glapinski admitted to viewing and possessing the material. A forensic sweep of his devices later uncovered over 2,500 images and more than 150 videos.
United States Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr. emphasized the severity of the breach of trust inherent in the case. “The sexual abuse of children is among the most heinous types of crimes imaginable.
But when such a terrible crime is committed by a physician – a person who has taken an oath to do no harm – the punishment must be severe,” Gorgon stated.
Special Agent in Charge William J. Shink of the Secret Service noted that the conviction was the result of a coordinated effort between local and federal agencies to track down those “who perpetuate the victimization of minors.” The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tara Hindelang.
