Lake Alfred Man Faces Battery and Resisting Charges After Fleeing Deputies
POLK COUNTY, Fla. – What began as a verbal dispute among three individuals escalated into a physical altercation late Monday night, resulting in one man being knocked unconscious and the subsequent arrest of a Lake Alfred resident.
Just before midnight, deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) were called to a residence on Old Dixie Highway in Auburndale following reports of an argument that had turned violent. Upon arrival, they found one man unconscious, who subsequently received medical treatment at the scene.

As deputies were converging on the location, the suspect, later identified as 43-year-old Jeffery Alan Williams of Lake Alfred, fled the scene, disappearing into the nearby woods. The PCSO’s drone unit was quickly deployed and successfully located Williams walking down a nearby road, guiding patrol units to his position.
However, Williams did not surrender peacefully. When confronted by deputies, he reportedly took up a fighting stance and ignored multiple commands to stand down. Deputies quickly brought the situation under control, and Williams was taken into custody.
Williams faces charges of battery and resisting arrest. He is currently being held at the Polk County Jail.
