Military Recognition: Tampa Native Jordyn Diomede Embraces Daughter After 8-Months On U.S. Navy Warship

TAMPA, Fla. – Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Jordyn Diomede, assigned to the submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39), embraces her daughter after the ship moored at U.S. Naval Base Guam, May 20.

Land returned home to Guam following an eight-month scheduled maintenance period at Mare Island Dry Dock in Vallejo, California.

With more than 90 percent of all trade traveling by sea, and 95 percent of the world’s international phone and internet traffic carried through fiber optic cables lying on the ocean floor, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity and security of the United States is directly linked to a strong and ready Navy.
