A simmering feud between tech billionaire Elon Musk and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) boiled over on Monday, resulting in the Congresswoman labeling the SpaceX founder “one of the dumbest people on Earth.”
The exchange on X began when Musk accused the Democratic Party of strategically importing illegal immigrants to secure electoral victories. In his post, Musk singled out Omar as the “obvious example” of this alleged strategy in action.
“This has been happening for years. Ilhan Omar is the most obvious example,” Musk wrote. “A large number of relatively recently arrived Somalis will elect only a Somali to Congress in that Minnesota district. This is much more subtle, but just as bad, in many other parts of America.”

Omar directly attacked Musk’s intelligence and disputed his understanding of her constituency’s demographics.
“You are one of the dumbest people on earth. My district is literally a majority white district,” Omar shot back. “Your conspiracy theories are laughable and should have no place in a society that cares about facts.”
According to Data USA, Omar’s assertion regarding the racial makeup of her district holds true; approximately 60% of the district’s population is white. However, the data also highlights a significant immigrant presence, noting that foreign-born residents comprise roughly 14% of the population, with a substantial Somali community.

The Congresswoman’s attack on Musk’s intellect stands in stark contrast to his résumé, which includes one of the modern era’s most prolific industrial figures.
As the CEO and chief engineer of SpaceX, Musk has overseen the launch of 246 rockets—including the historic feat of returning a spacecraft from low-Earth orbit—building a company now valued at roughly $100 billion.
Beyond aerospace, Musk leads Tesla and Neuralink Corporation, the latter of which is currently developing brain-machine interfaces designed to restore independence to those suffering from paralysis.
He also acquired the social media platform X, where the argument took place for $44 billion in 2022.
