A Missouri man was arrested after a violent confrontation over a bowl of macaroni and cheese ended with a woman suffering a gruesome neck injury. Steven Wolfe, 25, has been charged with first-degree assault causing serious physical injury following an incident on March 30 in Rolla, Missouri.
The Rolla Police Department responded to a home on October Place just before 6:00 p.m. after an employee at the residence reported that a co-worker had been attacked by a resident. According to a probable cause statement, the initial dispatch call noted an injury involving a “fresh tattoo” and stated that the two individuals had been separated.
Upon arrival, the responding officer discovered a victim with a severe injury.
The charging document describes a “large laceration to her throat about 3 inches and stretching the entire length of her throat.” Police noted a significant amount of blood on the woman’s chest. Although she was alert, the victim told officers she was afraid to move her neck.

The dispute reportedly began in the kitchen while the victim was preparing a meal. She told investigators she had cooked dinner for Wolfe and another resident. However, Wolfe reportedly became aggressive, claiming “the macaroni and cheese she made belonged to him.”
When the woman tried to explain that the food was indeed intended for him and the other housemate, the situation turned physical. The victim alleged that Wolfe pinned her against a wall and grabbed her by the throat. She had received a new tattoo in that area only five days prior. According to the criminal complaint, Wolfe “ripped the skin from [her] neck,” creating the massive wound.
In addition to the throat injury, police observed scratch marks on the woman’s back and noted that her cellphone had been damaged during the struggle. The victim told authorities that after she managed to get away, Wolfe simply sat back down at the kitchen table and “began playing on his tablet.”
Wolfe is currently being held at the Phelps County Jail. A judge has set his bond at $250,000.
